Our Story

In the summer of 2020, our 6th wedding anniversary was coming up and we wanted to celebrate. Unfortunately, summer of 2020 was also the year of Covid so finding something safe to do meant thinking outside the box. Fortunately for us, we are avid campers and thought this would be a fun and safe activity to do during this time. So we packed up the bags and our little teardrop camper and headed for the quaint little beach town of Traverse City, MI.

The night of our anniversary we decided to head to the beach with a bottle of wine and watch the sunset over Lake Michigan to celebrate. Everything was perfect. Our dog Oakley was digging a giant hole in the sand, the sunset was creating a beautiful pink and yellow tint, and we were perfectly reminiscing about this day 6 years ago. As we sat there, Adam pulled out his phone and began messing around on it. Truthfully, I was a little annoyed and was thinking to myself really your phone can’t wait until later? After what seemed like forever, but was probably only a minute or two, I heard our wedding video and realized exactly what he had been doing on his phone. A rush of emotions filled our bodies as we watched our video.  Goosebumps, tears, belly laughs, it all came flooding back. Watching our wedding video has been one of our favorite things to do on our anniversary, but little do you know, we almost didn’t get one! (Yes, you read that right. Keep reading – there’s more to the story).

High school Sweethearts

Our love story might be similar to yours. We met in high school 17 years ago (That’s right, we’ve been together over half our lives!). We went to different colleges 3 hours apart and did the whole long distance thing. It was difficult but we persevered and eventually moved back to our home town together, bought a house together, and our adorable dog Oakley. After dating for 9 years, Adam popped the question along the pictured rocks in Munising, MI and the wedding planning officially began and so did the discussion about our wedding budget.

The Biggest Mistake of Our Lives (Almost)

“I’m not paying for that!” Adam said stubbornly to our wedding coordinator when she asked if we planned to hire a wedding videographer. At the time, our impression of a videographer was someone who would hit record on a video camera and record the ceremony. Little did we know, that was totally wrong. As the story goes, we didn’t end up hiring someone and about two weeks before our wedding, one of Adam’s groomsmen asked if he could film our wedding as a gift. Of course we said yes, knowing we never officially booked anybody. Our wedding weekend was a whirlwind.  It went by extremely fast and was truly one of the happiest days of our lives. To our surprise, the very next day our groomsmen had completed our wedding video and asked if he could deliver it to us.  We had completely forgotten about it and were so excited to see what he put together but also wasn’t too sure what to expect.  When he arrived and put our wedding video on our big screen tv, it’s hard to put into words what we experienced. Pure joy, tears and laughter, but most importantly truly grateful that we had this video to watch every year.  (Click the image below to watch our wedding video).

After seeing our wedding footage, Adam was intrigued and wanted to return the favor. So when this groomsmen got married a year later, we filmed it, put together a cinematic video, and Adam found his calling. We started off filming for friends and family and eventually bought more equipment to turn this new found love into a business. We are so thankful for the couples who took a chance on us in the beginning. You gave us the confidence, the encouragement, and the drive to help us get where we are today. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Cute Wedding Song from Father of the Bride

When people think of a destination wedding most people think of somewhere tropical like Hawaii or Italy.  Kaitlyn and Holden chose a place that was unique and meaningful to their story that might not be on many people’s radar, Copper Harbor, MI. Kaitlyn and Holden met and fell in love at Northern Michigan University in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  Part of what made them fall in love was their shared love of adventure. Mountain biking, hiking and skiing were just a few of the activities they loved to do together and the Keweenaw Peninsula offered non-stop adventure for their love to grow.  When it came time to pick a destination for their wedding the choice was obvious.  They wanted to show off the amazing place where they met and fell in love to the people in their lives that matter most.

Check out Kaitlyn and Holdens teaser film and more from their Keweenaw Mountain Lodge Wedding in Copper Harbor.
